În ansamblu considerată o ediţie reuşită, Grammy Awards 61 a avut și momente mai puțin inspirate precum întreruperea discursului lui Drake sau alegerea artistei Jennifer Lopez pentru a aduce un tribut pentru ceea ce a însemnat Motown în istoria muzicii.

Lady Gaga a câştigat premiul pentru cea mai bună interpretare a unui duet pop – cu „Shallow”, o baladă romantică înregistrată cu Bradley Cooper pentru filmul „A Star Is Born”, în care cei doi artişti interpretează rolurile principale, artista câştigând un premiu Grammy şi la categoria „cea mai bună interpretare pop” cu single-ul „Joanne”. Bradley Cooper a fost premiat la categoria „cel mai bun cântec compus pentru media vizuale”. Actorul american nu a putut fi prezent la gala Grammy, întrucât s-a aflat la Londra, pentru a participa la gala premiilor BAFTA, unde a câştigat un premiu, impunându-se la categoria „cea mai bună coloană sonoră” – extrasă de pe filmul „A Star Is Born”.

Cântăreaţa folk-rock Brandi Carlile a primit şi ea trei trofee în categoriile tehnice pentru albumul ei intitulat „By The Way, I Forgive You”.


Ediția din acest an a sărbătorit în mare parte un an feminin și cine putea fi mai potrivită pentru a fi gazda show-ului decât Alicia Keys, câștigătoare a 15 premii Grammy de-a lungul carierei.
